Source A - William Bradford's Journal (1620):
"We came to this decision not out of any newfangledness or other such like giddy humor... but for sundry weighty and solid reasons. First, we saw and found by experience the hardness of the place and country to be such as few in comparison would come to us, and fewer that would bide it out and continue with us."

Source B - Letter from a Pilgrim to England (1621):
"Though I will not say we are all in health (for God has pleased to visit us with sickness and to take away many by death), yet those that survive and have recovered have their health, and are hearty. We have built seven dwelling houses and four for the use of the plantation."

Source C - Promotional Pamphlet (1620):
"This land flows with all manner of rivers and brooks of sweet fresh water... The land is very fertile and yields good corn, and here are found many sorts of berries, nuts, and other fruits."
