Number Line 0-20 Blank

About this illustration

This image depicts a black-and-white horizontal number line, precisely marked with tick marks and clearly labelled with integers from 0 to 20. Arrows at both ends indicate the line's continuous nature, extending beyond the displayed range. This fundamental mathematical tool is designed to teach number sense, counting, number ordering, and basic arithmetic operations for early primary and elementary school levels. It is suitable for creating worksheets for student practice, integrating into educational slides as a visual reference, or for use in label exercises. The visual style is a clean, flat illustration, making it highly legible and adaptable for various classroom materials.

How to use a 0–20 number line

This is a blank number line from 0 to 20, marked in steps of 1. There are 21 tick marks and 20 equal gaps between them, and the gaps are the same size all the way along — that even spacing is what makes a number line work.

  • A number line puts the numbers in order along a line with equal gaps between them, so the distance between two numbers is the difference between them. This one runs from 0 to 20 in steps of 1, which is 20 equal gaps and 21 tick marks.
  • Counting on is the skill it is drawn for. Each small gap here is worth 1, so adding 3 means moving three gaps to the right, and subtracting means moving the same way left. The answer is the tick you land on, so the line gives the method and the check at the same time.
  • The arrows at the ends are not decoration — they say the line keeps going in both directions. The numbers printed here are the part being looked at, not the whole of it.
  • With every whole number labelled, the line also shows which numbers are near each other: 12 is nearer 10 than 20, which is the picture rounding to the nearest ten rests on. The midpoints are the ones to watch — 15 sits exactly halfway between 10 and 20.
