Homeschool diploma template
A formal, print-ready diploma with the school name, student, date and two signature lines. Frame-worthy on heavy paper.
In most US states the parent who administers the homeschool issues the diploma, and it is as valid as any private school's. Employers, colleges and the military generally ask for a transcript rather than the diploma itself, but the diploma is the thing the student holds on graduation day, and it deserves to look the part.
This template is a traditional diploma: the school name at the top, the formal wording, the student's name in the centre, the date and place, and two signature lines. Print it on heavy cream or white card at Letter or A4, sign it, and it is done. There is no seal because a printed seal looks fake; a real embosser or a gold foil sticker looks right.

How to use it
Using the homeschool diploma
- 1Decide on your homeschool's name if you have not already (many families use '[Surname] Academy' or '[Town] Home School'). It goes at the top.
- 2Fill in the student's full legal name, the graduation date and the city and state or country.
- 3Print on 65–110 lb card stock, cream or bright white. Most print shops will do a single sheet for a dollar or two.
- 4Sign both lines: administrator (parent) and, if you like, a second parent, an umbrella school director or an evaluator.
- 5Add a real seal if you want one: an embosser with your school name, or a foil seal sticker from a stationer.

Homeschool diploma FAQ
Can parents issue a homeschool diploma?
Yes, in every US state. The parent administers the homeschool and issues its diploma, which is recognised as a high school diploma by colleges, employers and the military when accompanied by a transcript. A few states offer an additional state-recognised diploma route through associations.
Is a homeschool diploma valid?
Yes. It is a private school diploma. What matters to third parties is the transcript, test scores and, for some employers and the military, the state's homeschool law being followed. Keep the records that show it was.
Do I need a seal on a homeschool diploma?
No. If you want one, use a real embosser or foil sticker rather than a printed graphic, which looks counterfeit.
What should a homeschool diploma say?
The school name, a statement that the student has completed the course of study required for graduation, the student's name, the date and place, and signatures. This template has the standard wording.
