📖 Reading Passage (Read for 20 minutes)

The Amazing Octopus

Did you know that octopuses are some of the smartest animals in the ocean? These incredible sea creatures have eight arms and can do things that will amaze you!

First, octopuses are masters of disguise. They can change their skin color and texture in seconds to match rocks, coral, or sand. This helps them hide from predators like sharks and eels. When an octopus sits still on the ocean floor, it becomes nearly invisible!

Second, octopuses are great problem solvers. Scientists have watched them open jars, solve mazes, and even use tools. Some octopuses pick up coconut shells or rocks to build shelters. Others use sticks to poke into small spaces to find food.

Finally, if an octopus loses an arm, it can grow a new one! This process takes several months, but the new arm works just as well as the old one. The octopus can also shoot dark ink into the water to confuse enemies while it escapes.

Next time you visit an aquarium, look closely at the octopus tank. You might be watching one of nature's most amazing problem solvers!
