Thomas Edison was one of America's greatest inventors. He created over 1,000 inventions during his lifetime! Edison's most famous invention was the light bulb, which changed how people lived. Before Edison's light bulb, people used candles and gas lamps to see in the dark. Edison also invented the phonograph, which was the first machine that could record and play back sounds.
