Optionally move one counter between two groups of 5 to make 6 and 4 while keeping 10 altogether. A complete counter route is printed on the page; owned Numicon shapes are optional. The child may point, move, show, talk or direct adult hands. Materials and setup: 10 large, child-appropriate counters; 2 dishes; clear separate tabletop or play surface; adult present to set up and facilitate. The extension changes both parts while retaining the same 10 counters; record the actual parts rather than reuse 6 and 4.
