About this printable

This printable is a one-page mat that guides pupils to choose a target number and record number bonds using a part–whole model, a matching pairs column for parts, and a counters area for concrete representation. It is designed to build early number sense and addition facts by encouraging children to decompose (and recombine) a whole into two parts and to record those parts as equations. The Notes & Examples box gives space for teacher examples or pupil recordings.
