I can read and understand how farmers and townspeople work together in a community.

Long ago, farmers and townspeople depended on each other to survive. Farmers lived outside of town on large pieces of land called farms. They grew crops like corn, wheat, and vegetables. They also raised animals such as cows, pigs, and chickens. The farmers worked hard from sunrise to sunset, planting seeds in spring, caring for crops in summer, and harvesting in fall.

Townspeople lived in the center of the community where shops and businesses were located. There were blacksmiths who made tools and horseshoes, bakers who made bread and pastries, and shopkeepers who sold goods. The town also had a marketplace where people could buy and sell items.

Farmers and townspeople needed each other. Farmers brought their extra crops and animals to town to trade or sell at the marketplace. In return, they could buy things they couldn't make themselves, like tools, cloth, and medicine. The townspeople depended on farmers for fresh food, while farmers depended on townspeople for supplies and services. This cooperation helped both groups thrive and build strong communities.
