Money for curriculum in Texas
The Texas Education Freedom Accounts program (passed 2025) provides education savings accounts for private school and, at a lower amount, for homeschool students, with applications opening for the 2026–27 school year. Check the Comptroller's program page for current amounts and eligibility; homeschool accounts are capped well below the private-school amount.

What curriculum is required to homeschool in Texas?
Texas requires a bona fide curriculum in visual form (books, workbooks, video, or printed lessons) covering reading, spelling, grammar, mathematics and good citizenship. Any curriculum that covers those five is acceptable; you choose the rest.
Is there a free homeschool curriculum in Texas?
Free public online schools (Texas Virtual Academy, Texas Connections Academy) exist but enroll your child as a public school student with state testing. True homeschool curriculum that is free includes Khan Academy, Easy Peasy All-in-One, The Good and the Beautiful PDFs and library-based plans.
