About this printable

This printable explains the area-model representation (a 2×2 grid) and provides four worked practice panels where students label the grid sides with the binomial terms, write the four partial products and combine them to give the total expanded expression. A short vocabulary box defines terms (area, model, factor, product) and a 'Your turn' box invites pupils to choose their own binomials and build an area model. Use it to introduce the distributive property visually or as guided/independent practice when consolidating expansion of binomials.
