Chemical equations show what happens during a chemical reaction. The reactants (starting materials) are on the left side, and the products (what is made) are on the right side.
Balancing means making sure we have the same number of each type of atom on both sides of the equation. We add numbers called coefficients in front of the chemical formulas to balance them.
