Fourth grade is the year the workload grows and the child grows into it. Math moves to multi-digit multiplication and long division; writing becomes multi-paragraph and organised; reading is a tool for learning in every subject. - Cursive fluent; typing begins; spelling from rules and roots
Science
- Energy, waves and sound, electricity and circuits, the solar system, rocks and erosion, plant and animal structures
- Designs a fair test, records data in tables and graphs, writes a short conclusion
History and geography
- State history (required in many US states this year) or the modern era of the world cycle
- US regions and states, world continents and major countries, latitude and longitude
