A biome is a large area on Earth with similar climate, plants, and animals.

Aquatic Biomes: These are water biomes. They include oceans, lakes, rivers, and ponds. Fish, whales, algae, and water plants live here. The water can be salt water (oceans) or fresh water (lakes and rivers).

Terrestrial Biomes: These are land biomes. There are four main types:

• Tundra: Very cold and frozen. Few trees grow here. Animals like polar bears and caribou live here.

• Desert: Very hot and dry. Cacti and lizards live here. Gets very little rain.

• Grassland: Lots of grass but few trees. Bison and prairie dogs live here.

• Taiga: Cold with lots of pine trees. Moose and wolves live here.
